  Open University of Sri Lanka - OUSL  
  The Open University of Sri Lanka (OUSL) is unique within the national university system in being the only University to offer programmes of study leading to certificate, diploma, degree, postgraduate diploma and postgraduate degree through the Distance Mode.   National Online Distance Education Service - NODES  
  In Sri Lanka, greater opportunities for tertiary education are being created through Online Distance Learning (ODL). Universities, professional associations, private and public sector education institutions are adopting this mode of learning to cater to a larger student population. A loan agreement between the Asian Development Bank and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, that was signed on August 18, 2003, launched the Distance Education Modernisation Project (DEMP).
